.
For your peace of mind, call on a law firm that specializes in Family Law and will work on your behalf in Burlington. There are issues that need to addressed in the legal world. The dissolution may be amicable but it would be in your future best interests to have a legal document that a lawyer has drafted with you. This is probably in the form of a Separation Agreement.
A good Separation Agreement will resolve any of these large issues:
· Child Custody and Visitation
· Child and Spousal Support
· Division of Property and Assets, including Pensions and the like
When your Separation Agreement is drafted and both parties agree and sign off on its contents, you won’t need to go to Family Court. The Separation Agreement will outline the child custody issues. This will include how much time the child/ren will spend with each parent covering holidays and vacations. You may want to have what will happen if a parent wants to move out of town with the kids. The amount of Child Support is spelled out by the Province’s Child Support Table but expenses relating to the activities of the child/ren should be included in the Separation Agreement. Figure out when the Child Support should end or what changes will affect the payment amount. Spoal Support will be discussed if one of the parties feel it’s needed. The Agreement should specify how the matrimonial property will be divided,
The other issues may not be top of mind are:
· Debts
· Life Insurance
· 9Pensions
· Medical and Dental Benefits
